Shutterr release mechanism for Canon sx40hs?

in searching the web i found out that their isn"t a shutter release cable system compatible with the new canon sx40 digital camera which i could use for macrophotography. would any techies out there know how to fabricate one from remote supplies,wires etc.etc. Thanks for your help.

I think on that model you will have to use your timer.

Yep, there is a 5 sec (might be 2?) timer just for that.

Don't know if it's available for your Canon SX40, but I have a remote release unit (Canon) for my D60. It wirelessly triggers the shutter release. B&H or Adorama could tell you if it's available for your camera.
