I'm very rarely (couldn't say never) a proponent of including text that covers part of photo. Number 2 it is (and the lighting is a whole lot better).

I favor #1.
I find #2's composition not all that great - although well balanced, a little too much open, uninteresting space occupying the middle of the image, I think. Meanwhile, #1 has playful spunk all over it! (Perhaps very much in tune with the subject's personality?) Compared to #2, #1 is the sort of image I'm more likely to remember a year from now.

Second one. Without the text, I would like the first. The e is too close to the top edge of the pic.

Thanks Bob for your opinion on these 2 images. The lighting is the same on both since it's the same photo. The only difference (besided the text) is that on #1 I ran a couple of filters to give some texture on the image (except Suzie).

I got it! It appears that something is amiss (besides the text) about the picture from what the responses are to you photo, Brent. You have a beautiful subject and a beautiful background.
Therefore, it looks just to be a beautiful snapshot. You know, the kind that you take when vacationing. What do you think?
