I like to take un-posed photos of interesting faces. This girl works in a local bagel shop and was dressed up as a hippy for Halloween. I cropped out as much of the distracting background as I could. ........ Coot

These shots are fun to do, aren't they? The quality does not have to be the best. You've seen mine. Lol

As far as nose rings go, They always look like boogers at first when looking at a photograph the first time. My daughters sometimes have them in and I always photoshop them out. They hate that. I do it just to piss them off. I leave things alone when doing other people because it is part of who they are.

kubota, You're right, the nose ring is a bit of a turn off. The shot was taken with my SX40 from about fifteen feet away, aprox 300mm and then cropped, . I didn't even see the nose ring in the viewfinder and was surprised to see it when the shot was cropped. There was another another thing that surprised me. The lighting inside the shop was poor so I used the pop up flash, expecting the lighting to be harsh and contrasty, but the skin colors actually came out surprisingly well. ........ Coot

tainkc, You're right, they are fun. I take quite a few of them, delete most of them, but every once in a while one like this pops up and makes it all worthwhile.

I guess I'm going to have to grit my teeth and spend some time learning how to use my PS Elements. I've had it loaded for about a year, but never taken the time to learn to use it. I always end up just adjusting exposure, color and cropping with the "Fix It" tab in Microsoft Picture Gallery. ...... Coot

Definitely - another cool picture - very cool. I like face shots very much too. And I use an SX40 also - it's amazing how some of the shots come out well in poor lighting when you don't think their going to.

With your PSE program - Best way I found when having a problem is to google it. Example - shadows. In the search engine just type "PSE 9 shadows" and it'll bring up tons of info plus a few youtube video of how to. Youtube is my favorite way of learning. I'm a visual type person - I have to see it.

Here's another one. I didn't want you to think all my interesting faces were women. This one was taken with a Canon SX110is that under the right conditions is capeable of producing some incredably sharp images. Be sure to try the download. ....... Coot
