I keep trying to get white birds without losing detail. These, from today, are my latest effort. The sun set pretty quickly during the time I was trying to get these shots. In some cases the egret's head caught the last direct light.

Please feel free to offer advice.

Very beautiful! #3 especially, with that touch of sunlight.

I think I discovered the secret - no direct bright light! Anyway, that's what I did with these in part because I couldn't get out earlier (but don't tell).

Thanks so much Bob.

Everyone keeps talking about shooting during "the golden hours."
The lighting is so much more interesting.

Thanks so much Carole.

Thanks so much Linda. I was excited when I saw how the late afternoon sun was hitting this bird. I almost missed it. Five minutes later, the light was gone.

Thanks so much for the kind words. I was excited about how everything fell into place for these shots. Initially, I frightened the bird from its hunting area beneath where I decided to stand. It flew across the water from me to where you see it in these photos.
