I'm not sure - must be a slow time for rail roads now. They've been sitting here for 2 or 3 weeks at least. I've been meaning to stop by and shoot them but didn't have time until today.

Nice image. At first I thought it was the most engines I've ever seen pulling the world's longest freight train. Very cool image. Great perspective.

Since they all look like SD40's they might be turn ins for new locomotives or they might be going to repaint.

Thank you. There were several more that weren't in the shot, but there was a single boxcar sitting on the next track that would have ruined the shot if I tried to get them all in.

They could be there for repair also. They are parked near a repair shop.

I didn't think they had a major locomotive repair shop anyplace but the ones in Sacramento, Ca; Hinkle, Or; North Little Rock, Ar; and North Platte, Ne.

I have never seen that many locomotives in one place much less all hitched together. I love the shot! :thumbup: I wonder though if the UHH RR track cops will scold you. :roll:
