Fire?

This shot is from my 2012 fall visit to Rocky Mtn NP. I saw the small patch of aspen and thought it resembled flames among the pine-beetle-ravaged lodgepoles. I've cropped a little bit off the bottom.

D40, 55-200mm VR @ 122mm, f/8 at 1/30, iso 200.

Fire?

Excellent use of color in a composition making for a fine image. 8-)

It looks exactly like flames, that is amazing. The color palette of greens, purples and yellow-oranges is dynamic and interesting to me. Great catch!

Wow, that's really great! Taken to max size it's wire sharp. You can count leaves. It does look exactly like the frankly inevitable fire that will likely ravage the area eventually thanks to the damn beetles. There is detail everywhere, right to the brightest highlights where it's most apt to get lost. Terrific shot!

Very pleasing image of subject matter, textures and colors. Sad to know it's because of the beetles.

I love this use of color! I might suggest cropping the right side, to take the "fire" off-center, a bit.

Sharpening is an issue for me and my bi-focal quality eyes. For this image, when I download and view it on my 21" monitor, it sizes out to about 8x15". At a bit more than arm length viewing distance, the sharpness looks good to me. However, if I click expand, it looks overdone. I suppose that's the nature of sharpening; it's specific to the size of and viewing distance to the image.

What drew my eye to this shot was the color variation in the aspens. The transition from yellow to orange on the edges and tops, similar to a candle flame.

There is a great abstract feel to this. repetition of form and yet a natural color variance. would love to see how this would fare in a national competition. the judges input would be worth the effort of entering. Its obviously natural colour variance and not PP. that's the key.

well see and well produced

Tweaked the original a bit, and redid the sharpening.
