Back in the Saddle

Got called to a field crew to help with scheduling issues. What started out as a 2 week spot duty ended up being a month. Took my camera with me but 14-to-18 hours/7 days a week didn't afford any time to take photos. It's too bad for when I was out in the field it was bugs abound in Oklahoma.

Finally back home, I went out this morning not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised to find quite a few critters. This honey bee was kind enough to strike the pose.

Notice the "hair combs" on the bee's front legs. Eventually, the bee will comb all the pollen to its back legs for transport back to the hive.

Stop bragging, and prove it by starting a new thread.

Just like riding a bicycle, right?? Let me guess, only took 5 shots to make this post? I tried a little macro after shooting eagles again today. Took 15 shots and thought I nailed them all but one. Got home and computer showed only 3 out of 15, Ouch..

Almost like riding a bicycle. I did manage to wobble a bit. I didn't have too many bees out of focus but tossed a few due to bad composition. I like photographing euro honey bees at higher magnification. Hairs on the eyes are a good gauge for nailing the shot. I did have some issues nailing the hover flies' eyes though. Had three decent ones and a good ten didn't even make the first cut.

It was good to get back out and shoot. Typically I shoot Saturday and Sunday mornings. It really helps recharge my batteries and clear my mind. After 4 weeks of not shooting my mind was rather pent up and I was starting to get twitchy... ;-)

4 weeks are you crazy man?? I would be. I'm down to the weekend camera time myself and I always get my Fix.
