It is listed as an owl butterfly. I will be going there today. I will dubble check to be sure.

If it is a morpho the upper sides of the wing are bright blue, and now that I look more closely it is not a morpho.

I know the one you speak of. They do have them there as wellÂ… If I remember right they look a lot like this one with bright iridescent blue color on top of the wings.

The eye spots on the under side of the wings are beautiful. I have one somewhere taken with a 5 megapixel P&S in Costa Rica. It's quite severely pixelated because I cropped it. I'll see if I can locate it on my other computer.

Canon 5DMKII, Sigma 150mm macro lens, 1/200-sec at f/11, Canon MT24 twin head speedlight with diffusers in a Novoflex bracket, handheld.

Equipment helps for sure, but as LordV has shown with a little ingenuity and practice great results can be achieved with a small cash outlay.
