My problem now is on the lens. The 2 options I have are the camera with 2 lens-8-55 mm and 55-250mm OR camera with 8-55mm and 75-300mm lens. Is there that much difference in the two telephoto lens?

Molly,
I've seen a couple of your posts and know you shoot a variety of subjects but you do shoot wildlife. My opinion (which has varying values if you speak to my "friends" ) is that you should go with the longer of the two telephoto lenses - the 75-300. You wont miss the midrange and you'll "rack out" the 300 more than you might think. Good luck and enjoy the new gear.

I agree 75-300 you won’t regret it. One lens I added to my collection was the 85mm. for portraits.

yes 18-55mm. That seems to be the wide angle lens Cannon puts on it bundles.

I bought the Rebel XS kit...it came with the 18-55mm and the 75-300mm. Both are good lenses. That 20mm gap from the 18-55,75-300 is noticeable for me so I'll have to upgrade the 18-55mm to something with a little more range !

The 18-55 is a pretty good kit lens, but I traded it for the EF-S 15-85... it's comparable to the "L" lens series in quality and sharpness... and it's a Macro lens. REALLY a great lens for the price, and you'll cover the 20mm gap also.

once i get used to the camera, i will get some other lens. I'm more interested in telephoto type lens at this time. I actually have 5 other cameras that do portraits and macro pretty good.
