Another good example. Notice how it is the shape of the croc that you notice before you notice it is a croc.

I'll be contrary.
No.
But only because you used the word "ideal".
If you had left the "L" off and made it your "idea of negative space" then I would be with you.
It is obvious that there is a bit of variation in types/styles/uses of negative space, so maybe there is no "ideal".

I would have loved to see the gators tail snaking behind.

Good use of 3rds and I would agreent that this photograph uses negative space successfully.
