The composition has the elements I was taught to avoid, viz., Horizon at mid position. Eye catching element(s), two or one, I cant decide, also they manage to avoid the thirds.
I would be disappointed if I took this. Sorry, the foregoing is from one of your admirers.

Don't be sorry nairiam, I knew it wasn't good. The colours are nice though, Thank you :-)

I'd like to offer a different opinion regarding this photograph, and say that, Graham, you have been able to do something, compositionally, that is very difficult to do, successfully. That is, to take a photograph of a scene that most of us would find calming, and make it full of stress and opposites, enough so, that there is a point/counter point center of interest that tries to force the viewer to decide what to look at. There is a definite 'visual fight' (for lack of a better description) between the foreground post and the fishing boat in the distance, the dark sliver or blade of land on the left, dagger-like, not only stabs through the foreground post but then it continues through the photograph and goes on to stab the otherwise tranquil little fishing boat in the heart. Then there is the foreboding little gray cloud gathering over the fishing boat, but it is counterpointed by the birds floating peacefully in the late afternoon light. Lest we be content at this point, we see just a little bit of wind on the water above the birds to remind us that the peace and tranquility we see, is very temporary, and subject to rapid change.

The tension never goes away. Even the little red stripe in the boat is fighting for survival and recognition amongst all the blues that would prefer to be rid of it.

Wow, I could go on, but you get the idea. This is an amazing photograph that subtly offers something that most sunset/fishing boats in the harbor/seascapes just don't even try to do - it makes the viewer work to resolve the conflicts within. Just like real life.

This isn't a very technical critique - but my impressions when I first looked at it were -

I really like it and would like to go see this

There's just too much "blue" - I don't know enough about color theory to say what it is, but maybe with a little more orange or pink tones in the sky, the unique picture would come through. As it is, maybe the blue is a bit overwhelming?

With this type of picture, as a personal opinion, I don't think rule of thirds would ever work.
