The paper wasps (?) look a lot like yellow jackets, but were in open hanging paper nests not in the ground.

1. A small bumble or carpenter bee…I think.

Fearless photographer. Have you ever gotten stung in the process of capturing these critters?

Never.

I have had a very special relationship with the little winged ones my entire life. On more than one occasion I have called a trapped wasp or bee to my hand to take outside.

I have been called a bee charmer…Who knows? I do believe that people get stung because they do not understand the little ones.

Out of respect I always ask permission of the little ones before I take their picture. There are times they make it very clear that they do not wish to be photographed.

Paper Wasps have orange antenna, and the introduced German Wasp and native Yellowjackets have black antenna.

Well done Thunder. In particular I like the 2nd and 3rd in the series.

Before I started shooting macro I had an irrational fear of bees. Now I find myself sitting in flower patches inches away fearlessly snapping shots. They do let you know when they are perturbed. Simply back the lens away and observe for a while and all is well.

I don't ask for permission, perhaps I should start, but I do thank 'em for allowing me take a few shots.

Thank you A-PeeR :)

The little sisters are a very busy lot, so there are times that they just want to stick with the job at hand. I also say thank you after a shot is allowed. Seems only right.

Shot #2 in one of three that was published in the College's yearly art mag when I was a student there.
