Taken at a local body of water. I couldn't believe he caught this. He did manage to swallow it!

This is a great shot. One thing I would want to do is to get the highlights down on the water somehow so that the bird stands out more against his background. It's easy to miss what a Really Great shot this is, because of that.

That's a sunfish he's got, isn't it?

They are dinosaurs, aren't they! I love the shot! Crisp, colorful—I do kinda wish that I did not have to enlarge it to see the fish scales to fully grasp what's happening, but that is SO nitpicky. This is a grab shot and you gets what you gets! One other nitpick: would you consider trying to warm up the color? It might not work. The overall blue cast works well. I just wonder what if you did a color cast correction on the water (which I know is reflecting sky, but…), would it ruin the overall look?

Very nice shot considering how fast you probably had to work.

Is this better? I removed as much as I can, I think any more will effect the color of the GBH.

Nightski,

I think removing some of the blue cast that Chuck suggested also helped what you suggest. What do you think?

Not sure what kind of fish it is.

Thank you! I had been watching him for a while. When he reached down and came up with this he caught me completely off guard!

This is a puzzlement. I took them both up and toggled between. I still conclude that the original is too blue, but I think the second one is too cyan  . So under the Noo Rules I tried it myself and discovered that it'sa toughie. Here's what I got, the best I could get without selecting specific colors and parts of the picture. I also squidged the white slider over a tad in levels. The picture remains a stunner but seems to want to resist neutralization.

The bird stands out more in this photo.

Chuck,

Sounds like the problem I was having. If I took any more of the blue cast out the GBH started to lose its true color so I left it alone. Yours looks a tad better because the white stands out a little more.

Sometimes you just have to settle with what you can get.

Thanks for trying, I do like it!

I have posted a second photo of this GBH.

This is fun practicing. I gave it a try. I do most of my editing in Photoshop ACR and finish in CS6.
