I'll chime in, too, ramram. I've been using the Pixma Pro9000 (basically the same printer) for about 5 years, and all I can say is: It's Great! I only use Canon ink. I've used a variety of papers: glossy, matte, canvas, acetate (clear & opaque), vinyl "stick-on". I've used Kodak, Canon, HP, Epson, Inkpress, and Ilford. All with great results. I think I paid close to $600 and don't regret it a bit.

Note: It takes a certain amount of ink to cover a certain number of square-inches of paper. Most of the companies make their money on the ink. If we deny them that profit on the ink, the great deals on the printers will stop.

Should be just about anywhere, traveler, the rebates are from Canon (one "instant" and the other mail in). I found it quickly from B&H, my favorite.

A CISS is available for the Pro9000, but not yet for the PRO100. I am going to buy and put on the shelf til CISS is available.

I have been using CISS on my Epson NX305 for 4 years. On occasion I have had pluggage and cleared by using isopropanol to soak the cart over night and then injecting new ink into the cart. Not a problem that occurs if I use the printer regularly.

I am on the 4th refill order. That has saved over $2000 in ink based on a PC magazine study of ink cost.

Why they are "giving away" the Pro100? I do not know or care if it is equal or better than the Pro9000.

Danilo, the updated version of the Pro 9000 is the Pro-100. These are dye printers. There are also excellent deals on the new Pro-100 where you buy the printer and a pack of 13x19 paper for 389 and get a 300 rebate. Thee printers us the Canon CLI inks.

The Pro-10 is an updated version of the Pro 9500 pigment printers. These printers use the Canon Lucia pigment inks.

Or there's a similar one for $99.

The 10 has 10 pigmented inks, vs the 100, no not 100 carts, but only 8 dye based inks.

Now jerry, we can say we did not take advantage of theses deals because we could not make up our minds between the pro 10 and pro 100... Comments any one??
