I think you did a nice job in PP. I like how the brightness of the bird goes light to dark (top to bottom) while the background does the opposite. It provides good contrast and really draws my attention to the eye and the nice detail and tones in the head and neck. You've brought out the wing color nicely as well.
The little reflection in the eye is a must in a shot like this; it's subtle but really adds to the shot, IMO.
