Green Cast

I like the unusual subject and general color, but I don't know where the green cast in the distance come from unless it is from pollution. I guess I could select it and modify the color, but I don't know if I want to. It is what it was!

Is that area in the distance located over a large body of water? I don't completely understand the physics, but when the sky was clear around San Francisco (seldom), the ocean used to show a greenish cast when I was shooting with certain kinds of color film. If I was using B&W (which I usually did), it showed up as an odd shade of grey; I'd usually shoot the distant scenes with a yellow or light orange filter. Of course, now it's always smoggy grey.

You might try to isolate the entire sky with a magic wand with a wide tolerance and either paint it one color or (better), fill it with a sky from another shot.

The greenery doesn't look right either. I suspect a white balance issue. You might want to play with it a bit.

Maybe a tighter crop eliminating the upper layer of sky and some of the foreground after adjusting the white balance. Cropping might bring out that amazing structure on the mountaintop a bit better. Very interesting photo, thanks for the thread. 8-)

That kind of casting/haze will show up from time to time when the weather is just right. I get it in about half my landscapes. Its nothing bad and can be corrected with a bit of patience and skill.

However, I tend to like that look. I would leave the image as is. Its pretty strong.

Funny that I never ran into it. I shoot a fair amount of travel stuff which includes landscape. Anyhow, thanks to all for your input. Oh, by the way this was shot in Greece, about 150 miles SW of Theseloniki so I don't know what was over the hills.

To me the green cast looks like a result of over post processing. What have you used on the image after downloading it?

If it is NOT PP, then possibly the contrast and saturation is set too high in the camera . . . just a thought.
