I like this for all the compositional leading lines. You may wish to experiment with a slight crop eliminating the very top edge strip of window and reflections. 8-)

Because the design nature of the building, I cant crop out those bits without ruining the image overall. I did try that view out.

I am not one to add or remove elements of an image with photoshop magics.

Understood, although I would not consider a crop as photoshop magic. :)

In my opinion, Bmac is correct. That upper story in the photograph is distracting and spoils the impact of the otherwise austere building. It would be easy to remove with many of the photo editors available. It may be that you have tried and, as you have little experience with editing, you may have cut through the curve of the structure below the offending glass. This is easily overcome with the editing tools available.

If you are happy to give permission, I'm sure there are many members who would be happy to help modify your image.
You can then decide if you like it or not.

I have plenty of PS/Lightroom exp. The issue isnt that I dont know how to do what you suggest.

I chose to keep it as it is, for my own aesthetic reasons and because it fits the project as a whole. Part of the project deals with surfaces and their relationship with their surroundings. /pretentious art statement.

I get what you mean though from your personal taste views and appreciate your opinions. :)

Many thanks for your pertinent reply. I agree that it's all a mater of personal taste.

I am at the point in the project that its time to make the image selections and part of my criteria is how the image stands on its own as well as how it fits into the collection.

This is one of the images where myself, my publisher and my mentor are all on the fence about it.

Ah! Good luck with your project, image selection and/or rejection from a publication is never easy. I hope it all turns out as you would wish.

I like the composition and the lines the image has, however I wonder if opening up the dark areas at the sides of the stairs to the density of the reflections above would not add and allow the eye to see rather than the mind to wonder what is there? Sorry did not aim for the image to copy.

The light data in there, is pretty bad. I did use the radial tool in LR5 to bring some of it back, and theres not much there.

Thats how the light fell on that scene. I want to keep that feeling. Mon-Fri its a busy well lit plaza, on the weekends its a ghost town.

Thanks for the feedback. I find it hard to get into another persons head and know what they are thinking and what conditions they are up against when they are shooting. So it is hard to critique an image without asking the right questions. Best wishes on the book.
