Photo was taken when we traveled the old Elk City Wagon Road to get a glimpse of history in the region. The discovery of gold in 1861 turned a Nez Perce trail into a wagon road to transport supplies.

Thanks for sharing. it reminds me of a tour of Mammouth Cave in KY -- where we saw wood pipes used in the gunpowder making process for the War of 1812.
