Shakey Loc: Traveling again to Norway and other places.

Shot in May of this year while on vacation in England. I could not get a perfect S curve, which is what I as hoping for, but had to settle for this twisting road. I did not see the car until after I had upload the shot to my laptop. (Age has its limitations.) Do I leave it in or take it out?

Please feel free to make whatever changes you think suitable.

I would not worry about the car. If it were a horse and buggy we would find it charming. The car provides a reference point. I also like that the colors are not over zealous. It lends a quiet tone. The road gives your eye a path. Good use of fore- and midground. Not sure that I would change a thing.

I like the car. I think I'd bump the colors up just a bit.

There is a lot to like in this photo. As noted I wish it was a horse and buggy but... Still it is a fine photo. I would lower the top of the photo to get rid of the little town???? or whatever that is in the upper left corner. Otherwise, I like the image. You don't always have to have a perfect s curve----this broken road is quite interesting.

I think there is too much in the composition that is competing for your attention. If you leave the car in the shot, then it needs to be a bit more prominent. I see the road itself as the point of interest. So I cropped the picture to include primarily the road with the car on it.

Thanks. Really did not do much other than crop a bit.

There's no need to wonder about the car. OnOne's new perfect suite 8 has an excellent eraser tool. I'm really impressed .... they have done a great job in developing it.

Here is the original picture with the car removed. You can decide for yourself which way you like it.

I vote "no car" :)

"road closed for photography"
"road closed for photography"...

I think the car adds to the image and strangely enough came up with a crop almost exactly the same as one of the others.

Nice try, ebrunner. However I think the crop is too tight. The foreground brown grass and the tree on the left helped to give the impression of distance. In my opinion, not an improvement. Good try!

Thanks, snails-pace, that's a neat demonstration of erasing. I like it too.

A foregrounders point of view. This picture has many great elements and the car wasn't one of them, also too much grassy hill. The S curve, stone fences, tree and sheep as you can see were my focus favorites.

John, I agree with some of your comments but cropping out so much, in my opinion, leaves the viewer with little idea of what the location looks like. The image was entitled Yorkshire Dales. I go along with your view of the S curve, etc. Your comment and cropped image makes some good observations. Thanks

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the discussion. To add to the interest I went mad with the image:

GIMP: Removed car with Heal tool. Substituted a bus for the car. Increased the Saturation. Added a two borders.

I regret that I did not have the skill to add a convincing horse and buggy.
