First I would like to give a big shout out to Nightski & Country's Mama for moderating this thread.......I was going to post six pics....but then I read the rules.
Early this morning I went to my favorite spots. Posted is a photo of my favorite Shack...... I have many photos of this little beauty (remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder) this is my favorite.
Here is what I did........ feel free to crtique and edit the photo as you see fit. I loved the brihgt rays coming through the trees, the mist in the air, and the chairs on top of the shack.....it just caught my eye. EXIF data included

1. I used a nikon p510 set in landscape.
2. Took about 5 photos from different angles.
3. Have done 0, zero, nada pp to it. (thats why it's posted here I hope you good folks can help me make it better)

Give us something hard next time...lol. There's a lot to like about the picture but it also has some serious problems. There are large blown out areas in the upper left and of course the gauzy filtered sun reduces the sharpness drastically, plus it limits the dynamic range. But here's a 10 minute take on it. Not sure that I can do anything more than this...not even sure that it improves it. Get out there and take another shot. It's got great potential.

I adjusted the levels a bit to tone down the bright highlights. Then I used the burn tool in photoshop. FIrst I used a really wide brush to get rid of most of the haze. Since you wanted the haze in a bit, I used a narrower brush and less exposure in the brush to create some "rays" of sunshine. I did not take too much care with the rays, but you get the idea. I'm not an expert; but if you like what I did and you have any questions, feel free to ask as many questions as you like.

Well, that was fun! I cropped out most of the burn in the upper left corner. I also discovered there was a lot of color in that right corner. I'm not sure if that's what you saw when you were taking the photo, but it was fun to uncover it. The shack felt crooked to me so I tweaked and sharpened it a tiny bit. I love your little shack! Thanks for sharing!

Well, I surely see what you like about this place. Sun rays are my most favorite thing to try to photograph with fog coming in at a close second but they're both challenging. I think you've likely overexposed this, with the camera being fooled by that bright spot on the upper left. Spot or center metering (if your camera has it) might help next time.

Others have already posted edits, but I'd already started one so here is a quick attempt to get you some more color and texture while keeping the rays, sorry it's kind of messy but I will confess I was trying to watch the football game at the same time.

Get your courage up and explore the fun world of post processing, it's not hard to learn and it can be as cheap (or expensive) as you want it to be. It's a great way to keep having fun with your photos even when you can't get out to go shoot more. And enjoy this nice new section!
