I am sure on,You Tube, that there is a decent tutoiral on GIMP and how to use it. All I can find are kids doing their play Station logos or Glamour shots "wanna be's" that go over it so fast and does not really explain it well enough for my 60 year old brain. I guess is there one on there that really does explain it throughly? I really could use some help with this
Thanks in advance.
Douglas

I would get a copy of Gimp 2.6 for Photographers.

On youtube try the following, although I am not sure it is exactly what you want:

I run Gimp on both Windows and Linux, I have used it for years. If you have anything specific that you want help with, just ask.

Also, if you are on Linux, look at DarkTable, like light table but for Linux.

Hi just started using Gimp, and need some assistance in minimizing facial shadows on an old photo. You can see the before and after shots of my attempt to fix it here.

It is not easy to fix a photo like this since it is so small. If you can rescan it at 300dpi and get a larger image to work with, would be easier.

Lets fix the mans face.

You can fix just the face with the dodge burn tool. Use the brush "Galaxy Big" set the opacity to 15% or less. Set the size of the brush to 1/2 size of face. Use this to SLOWLY change he light on the face. You have to do this a little bit at a time so as to blend the face with the rest of the photo.

I no longer have access to the photo, so rescaning is not an option. Thank-You for showing me how to do this, i have copied the info into Open Office for future use.
