I'm wondering what others think of this shot of my cat taken on the front porch
Great sharp portrait of your cat, well done.
I have a cat. Some days she's a great model. Somedays not. If it's the "sometimes not" that you like about this photo, it's a keeper. Cat with an attitude. (It's sharp, cropped perfectly, and you have great DOF.) Otherwise, wait until she's out there again and shoot until you can get her orbs set forward. Also, cats photograph best when the light is not so harsh and their pupils are a bit more dilated. (Oh, if my cat would obey like my dog. "Sit Coco. Good dog! Treat?" Snap.)

Remember, it helps to store original.

I'd like to compare it to the original, unedited shot. I'm not a fan of vignetting, and it seems overdone here.

The image does not look sharply focused to me, but could be old eyes or inexpensive laptop :)
Jim, please upload the original again, and click "store original" on the right side. You can just click "reply" to any message in this thread and below the text portion will be a spot for you to add the photo ("choose file" or "browse").
Remember in this section we want you to critique the photo. Tell us what you like and don't like about it and try and explain why.
I think your composition is nicely done. You have left some room in the direction that the cat is looking. Your DOF (depth of field) is very shallow drawing the eye to the cat's eyes. As this is only a thumbnail it is difficult to tell how sharply focused the eyes are. I think I would have liked this a little better if the cat's whole ear was either in the frame or out of it and maybe not cropped so tight that the whiskers flow out of the frame.
