Had the opportunity to visit NYC last week, so packed camera, and attempted big buildings. Don't have these out here, so this was first attempt. From a compositional perspective, as well as technical, I would sure love some thoughts.
I like the buildings included on both sides. Really adds perspective to WTC1.
My one complaint is the two distracting street lights in front of the building. I would like to see both cloned-out.

I agree with you, but I'm not good at cloning get. Plus the bottom of the light is in the reflection which could be complicated (and way above my pay grade).
Was this taken very early evening...the blue hour? If so, it lends itself to this picture. The angles are arrows, too. Your eyes know exactly where they're supposed to go. This adds a lot to the composition. The street lights do not bother me very much. If any change at all I would see if the trees could be made a little more luminous. But not much. This is a very nice photograph.

You and me both! Post permission for the more talented to give it a shot.

Interesting comment.... I was wondering if you could have removed the streetlights by moving to your left. It would also change the leading lines of the street. I realize this doesn't help you now! I try to think about each photo in terms of what I would try (differently) "next time".

The street lights don't bother me nearly as much as the orange and white barrel. But frankly didn't see either lights or barrel on my first viewing. The world is not perfect.

I have the image ready for posting should permission be forthcoming.
PS: I don't consider myself among the more talented.

I think the perspective and composition is just fine, with your subject nicely framed by two other buildings. You have an interesting photo which is properly exposed and has the added bonus of a nice reflection in the subject building. 8-)

Actually early am with a Circ Polarizing filter, along with a -1stop gradiant filter in LR4. I did lighten the first tree a little, but was afraid to go too far. The contrast from sky to shade was really difficult to deal with.

Absolutely permission is granted. This is a great learning opportunity for me.

I have to admit that I didn't see the orange barrel until it was mentioned here. Obviously the street lights were always going to be there, maybe just not in the WTC itself.

Please do post. This is exactly what I was hoping for in this forum.

I cropped out the buildings on the left. To me, it gives a different look, highlights the WTC more.
If your software allows you to do lens correction, it seems that perspective is a bit off; the WTC seems straight, but the buildings on the right seem to be leaning in.
