Some liked with poles and wires as-is and some preferred cloning. I can't decide :) Is that one of those strictly personal-preference things?

Any other comments/critique? Thank you!

Sunrise and sunset make pretty but not interesting photos. Keep the poles. In fact I wish they were more prominent.

Like charryl I'm not a great fan of sunrise/sunset pictures but this one does have a great luminous quality to the clouds that I find interesting. Keep the poles!

PS: I'm about to post a sunrise image :-D

Linda,
I like the image a bunch. I used to kiddingly argue with a photo buddy all the time about poles and power lines. He wanted 1850 looking historic images and I felt we should tell it as it is now.
What do you think about straightening the poles?
Larry

I too say keep the poles, however, I never get tired of sunrise/sunset captures. I believe it maybe because I hardly ever get to see them in real life :(.

Thanks Larry. Never noticed the poles weren't straight :)

You're welcome---not sure it matters since they could be on a hill and they are pointing into the image--try the straighten tool and see how it looks and go from there.

Thanks Sue. I'm so thankful to be retired now and living in an area with long-distant views. The only reason I'm looking forward to the time change (tonight!) is I can get sunset photos an hour earlier :)

Yep, I re-posted (used Picasa).

I think it would be wrong to say that telegraph poles, power lines etc are a no-no. Like lots of sweeping statements, they are asking to be ignored from time to time. But I think it's a good thing that they are low key.

I come from bonnie Scotland, and I spend quite a lot of time muttering about power lines etc spoiling good views. So it's nice to see them put in their place.

Love the clouds. Love how you captured the sunrise. I'm a pure nature girl, so cars, telephone lines, etc...ruin it for me. I would like to see a low angle shot capturing something interesting in the foreground. There are so many awesome sunset, sunrise photos. It's my opinion, that an interesting foreground is needed to make the sunrise photo into something really special.

RG will disagree with me on this. We go round and round on this subject! :-D

I agree with you, Sandra! Unfortunately, it seems I see my most awesome sky scenes when I'm not in the "right place" and on the occasions I make an effort to find the right location, nature doesn't cooperate.

I had unobstructed views of both sunrise and sunset in winter, from the front porch of my mobile home in a park and often the skies were filled with magnificent colors and cloud formations. Sadly, all I had for silhouettes for foreground "interest" were the roofs of other mobile homes :)
