Here we are in November complete with cloudily skies, rain almost everyday, falling temps and most birds (including Sandhills ) getting ready to head South for the winter.
There are thousands of Sandhill Cranes gathering in Northern Wisconsin and like these, they are stocking up on food and energy for the trip.

I would love to see these in person. They're such stately birds and your photo shows that aspect very well. The light in this seems to warn of impending cold. It probably won't be long before the cranes take off for the winter.

Thanks for looking Vicki.
The Cold has been here for a number of weeks and we are looking forward to a warm up to 45 degrees today!
I went on a DNR field trip yesterday AM and it was nasty cold and wet - tough for taking pictures.
Nine (endangered ) Whooping Crane young were released into the wild just recently in my part of the State and we saw eight of them while on our field trip. The pictures are not the best but it was exciting to see these young Whooping Crane adjusting to living on their own in the wild. Hopefully, they will migrate and come back next year.

Tom, love those Sandhills. I get to see them infrequently so it's great to see them.
