Our hummingbirds stay here most of the year. Today is more like summer than fall, and the light is warm and inviting. Wish I could get this guy in flight, but he seems to prefer to sit.

Please feel free to offer suggestions.

All were taken with a Canon 60D and Canon 100-400mmL lens in aperture priority.

Beautiful captures. I don't think it's easy to catch the iridescent red like this. We have these here, too (Anna's hummingbirds), and they stay all winter. We fill four feeders for them and thaw them on freezing mornings.

As you know, these are Anna's as well. Our feeders don't freeze but the bird bath will get ice on the surface sometimes.

Thanks for looking and the kind words. I always appreciate it.

Beautifully captured hummingbird, never seen one this color, they must stay on the West coast.

Outstanding, Vicki. Beautiful shots. Don't get that variety out this way, and ours are long gone for the winter regardless. Did have one little fellow who sat for long periods in the early evening on a branch a foot or two above the feeder, just preening himself.

Absolutely stunning, Vicki! My favorite is #3 with the flare behind, the title of its head, and a little more space around the bird in the composition. Just delightful!

I can't get shots of them unless they sit still. Thanks Jim.
