NIK Silver Efex -- Older version ???

I do all my editing on a desktop computer that is runnig Windows XP Pro 32Bit. I really don't/can't spend the $$$ for a new computer right now.

I am not quite satisfied converting images to B&W in PS Elements using Image>Mode>Grayscale or Enhance>Adjust Color>Remove Color sequenses.

I would like to purchase and try NIK Silver Efex, but cannot find it alone without buying the suite now being offered since Google bought them. The Silver Efex offered by itself (pre suite inclusion) ran on XP, but the suite will not. Until I upgrade to a new computer with Windows 7 or 8, am I stuck ???

I have been looking on Ebay but can't find it for sale. Anyone have any suggestions ???

You have to buy it as a whole suite, and until you upgrade you are stuck.

Here are two other possibilities (both free).

Virtual Photographer: http://www.optikvervelabs.com/
Perfect Effects 4: http://www.ononesoftware.com/products/perfect-effects-free/

And here are other ways to do a black-and-white conversion in Elements.

You can create very nice B&W images without using NIK. I do have a Masterclass course where I teach conversion to B&W using CS6 without the NIK plugin. From what I hear it does translate well to PS Elements. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to do portraits in B&W.

The link is here if you are interested.

I would strongly recommend you think twice before purchasing software from this website. See the document below. This website (#6) is listed as one of many "providing pirated, counterfeit or otherwise suspect Adobe product for sale".

http://www.chillingeffects.org/notice.cgi?sID=948300

If they are doing this with Adobe products, what is the guarantee the same is not being done with Nik products?

I had the suite before upgrading to Windows 7. I ran XP Pro 32 bit and the suite worked just fine.

Thanks UP-2-IT, Looks like this is just a 15 day trial. Then no where to go to buy the program alone. I am not interested in buying the suite..........Was this originally sold on a CD or was it just a download??
