A compilation of different size sensors and how they compare to each other.

That is why many people are enamored with FF and beyond.

The one at the far left is used in the super zoom bridge cameras.

I believe this should say "relative sizes", since it shows sizes in relationship to other sensors but is much smaller than sensors actually are - a "full frame" sensor, for example, is the size of a 35mm negative.

What is the question? If you are satisfied with the photos you get from your camera, why worry about the size of the sensor.

What's the saying? "It's not the size of the wand but the magic it contains"....

Or size doesn't matter as much as how it is used... ;)

I'm sure the science involved in each sensor also makes a difference. Modern car engines are small are and more powerful than they were a few generations ago. I'm not saying a smaller sensor is better. I'm just saying that sensors of any size are better than they used to be.

This is a nice chart. I have seen several versions of this information and this is one of the clearest. Where did you find this? I am working on a blog post on camera sensors and would like to give credit to the creator.

I'm afraid I can't give you references, but here are four I found.

I think the 1/2.3 sensor (super zooms) is the most developed out of the bunch considering the images they get from it.

In the end its still small and uncompetitive to most of the larger sizes.

I followed the link and selected my camera, Canon T3i, but then couldn't find a button to click to make the comparisons appear.
