Getting a decent shot of a Magpie has always been a challenge ...as have ravens, crows, and other basically black birds. I found these down at West Chester Lagoon last Saturday. Not the best light and lots of ducks but I think they turned out rather well.

Excellent pics. Your maggies are very different to the Aussie ones. Our magpies look like a piebald crow--about the same size, but maybe a little plumper. :D

You certainly have your share of strange birds. All my years of traveling to your beautiful country and I never once had a camera. Maybe after I retire next year I'll visit again.

Thanks, the second one was for my grandson ...magpies steal food from everyone including ducks. This is a popular area for locals to feed the ducks during the winter. The lagoon is one of a very few areas that will have some water ice free all winter.

She was six months old in that shot John. Sadly I lost her last year and because of arthritis and advancing age we have decided no more mastiffs. She was a very sweet dog and a major source of comfort while going through chemo. I miss her very much.
