I cant seem to get this right. My prints never seem to print the same size as what is shown on my monitor. I'm using PSE11 and a Epson Artisan 1430 printer. I set my image size to 8x10 and my printer to that size also. Always a piece missing from the left hand side of the print. Any idea's from you guy's or Ladies would be appreciated.

8x10 or 8 1/2x11 paper? Your printer may not be able to print this size image. Can you change the margins on your printer? Can your printer print a full bleed? Meaning all the way to the paper edges with no margin.

Get a printer that can print all the way to the edges. Many printers can not, no matter how you try and what settings you use.

The 1430 is capable of borderless prints.

The OP needs to make sure that it's SET for borderless, and that the paper is actually 8x10.

First you need to save another copy of the photo in the size format that you want to print. Then the print settings should correspond to that save photo. When I want to print copies in 4x6 and 8x10 I'll save two photo copies with labels indicating the print size. But you need to change the print and paper settings also.

And note that 4x6 and 8x10 are not the same ratio, so depending on what your original image was shot at, one of these will be cropped. It sounds like you have already cropped to print as 8x10 or you shoot in that ratio(4:5), so this probably isn't an issue, but just wanted to touch on it.

I set my paper to 8 1/2 X 11 and my print size to 8 x10. I would have thought that should be enough. I have not tried boarderless yet, so I will give that a try. Thank you all for your input.

If you want an 8x10, and set the paper to 8 1/2x11, then the assumption is that you're going to trim the paper.
If you want an 8x10 image CENTERED on an 8 1/2x11 paper, then you want to change the canvas size (NOT THE IMAGE SIZE) to 8 1/2x11.

Please tick the (store original) box so we can see the large version of the images you posted.

Edit: I see the problem now. You didn't crop the image to 8x10.
Right now, it's aspect ratio is 2x3 (or 4x6, or 8x12), so of course you can't print the whole thing as an 8x10. It's auto cropping the image to fit the image space you've defined.

Thanks for the full size images.

It's exactly what I said above.
The image is of the wrong aspect ratio for the print you're trying to make.

You've got the 'crop to fit' box ticked. Untick that.

If your paper really is 8 1/2x11, set the paper size to that.
Then change the image size to 7.5x10
That will leave you with a full image and a 1/2 inch border all the way around.

Thank you so much for your explanation. I resized the image to 8x10 and it printed. I thought that I had done that once. This time I left all the boxes checked, and it printed fine. The shed looked a little distorted, but the viewer will never know what the original looked like anyway. Do you think that one of the boxes in resize should have been unchecked?
