These are excellent shot. Love those SX50's. Of course it's the photographer, not the camera, but it's nice to have good equipment to work with.

I like that first one but feel it would be a little more powerful if you take away the "busy" surroundings. Kind of like this:

Didn't I just read a topic that said users would be banned for changing an OP's photo without permission? :)

Welp... adios then. If making a simple suggestion and offering to show an example gets me banned from a forum that is SUPPOSED TO BE HELPING PEOPLE, then perhaps this isn't the place for me. I have no time for legalism or political correctness. If the OP is "offended" by my exampled suggestion, then I will DEFINITELY not be sticking around.

It is AGAINST FORUM RULES to take a posted image and do ANYTHING with it and repost UNLESS THE OP REQUESTS!!!

I wanted to blur the background but I had to take what I could get. He/she was perched in the leaves and he was pretty far up in the tree. There was no way I could get closer. I had enough trouble getting pictures without the leaves covering his face. I save all your suggestions. Could I have done something different? Thank you Joe, I really appreciate your complement.

The only way to blur the background is with a shallow DOF, but when shooting at a distance with a telephoto that is extremely difficult to do in camera. You might be able to accomplish a blurring of the background with some post-processing and selecting the areas around the hawk. I have never done it, but have seen some results that others have done.
