One lens...one camera challenge....
Not slamming anyone so if anyone wants to defend anyone or sees an imaginary "slight" then move on...please.
I've read threads here on the 'hog about wanting that "do all" lens because their current line up of multiple zooms just isn't short/and/long enough to take a shot of everything they see in every instance....
I propose (to anyone who's game) that you pick a lens (if it's a prime lens) or pick a focal length on your favorite zoom..and tape it down so it won't move, and shoot that for a whole week...or shoot it ONLY for your next outing.
Get used to not trying to get "every shot you see"...the fact is...you miss all kinds of shots...that's just life.
Using only one lens forces you to change positions...change angles...get low, get high....get creative, to pay more attention to the light instead of swapping lenses...to wring more out of that focal length than you otherwise might have.
What do you think? Are you up for it?
If you are....you can post a few of your results here...I'd be interested in seeing how you did and how you adjusted to the idea.
If you have only criticism or want to complain about how mean I am...then move on...I'm not interested in bickering with you here.

Photo contest at Launceston camera club
I introduced the 50mm challenge where one camera was loaned to all members entering with a 36 exposure film.
if 15 entered they could take 2 shots each and so on.
One lens, same asa, great contest

JR1, your stupid and I hate you...you don't know anything....what a lame brain you are....
:)
Thought I'd get that out of the way in case anyone wanted to derail my thread with jabs at you ....
This is a really good method to build your compositon skills, it forces you to look at things differently.
Did a similar thing at a camera club with a disposable camera. One shot each and then it got passed along to the next member. Not quite the same as going for a whole week. Though when I got my first SLR I only had the one lens for ages.
So of those who've commented...who's up to actually do it?
Anyone? :)

Yeah I'm up for it. Depending on the weather, I have a free day tomorrow. Thinking about using my 8mm Samyang.

Actually, I seem to do that every few weeks: Our granddaughter is a member of the local riding club and there are competitions at least once a month.
When I'm there, I do not like to set down my bag of gear, as I tend to wander off to a different corner or side of the riding ring, depending on where the action takes place.
With the camera + 70-200mm lens, I carry a spare battery in my pocket and that's it. No flash, ever. Many horses don't seem to care about the flash, but I have seen a horse get spooked by it and I do not ever want to be the cause of that!

I was being factious...
You seem to attract some "groupies" that love to slam you...and I thought that I'd exhaust that avenue first so that they wouldn't.
I meant it in fun...I wasn't being serious.
