I have been practicing focus stacking.
I used Zerene for this 52 image stack
Nikon D5100 sigma 105mm lens set at 1.2
1/200, f10, ISO100

Stunning, stunning image! Looks like my favorite style of watercolor paintings :)

Thanks Linda,
Huh... your right it does look like a water color painting.
I was trying to figure out what it looked like! I think water color works.

Glen: I hope you don't mind if I'm picky-- but there is some movement between stacks on the petals of the flower on the far left-- toward the top and then on the petal just opposite. Sorry I can't help with what to do in Zerene to fix this. It could have occurred when taking the images. I've had this happen when I forgot to turn off the VR-- but I believe you are using a Sigma.
New Sigma lens have Image Stabilization (IS) and it needs to disabled when shooting on a tripod. I imagine the same holds true for a stacking rig. If that's not the issued then there is some sort of movement either the subject or the camera or lens focal position. Haloing on the top left petals suggest this to me.
Nice composition Glen, now the devil is in the technical details..

LRF,
Please be picky, are you kidding me. If everyone was to just look at the pictures I take and say Oh those look good....
I would think they are good and need no improvement.
It is because of you and others pointing out areas of improvement that I am improving. So yes keep it up please point it out :-)
you know what? I had my camera hooked to my computer and was watching live view on the computer monitor this evening. I saw the object I was going to take a picture of moving around the screen. I though to myself what the frig? Is my camera moving or is it defective.
Then it dawned on me that I had read some ware that if your camera is on a mount to turn of the lens image stabilization. My I.S. was on and has been for all the stacks I have been doing LOL. I turned it off tonight.
The second issue is the flower had been picked from outside and brought in so it was wilting as I was shooting it.

This is exactly what I discovered. I was stacking and left the VR on. Even though I had the tripod all locked down-- I could see the lens/camera jerk when I pressed the remote release.
