Hi!

I have been taking pictures for ages but trust me, I am no photographer. I have managed to pick up a new camera (Canon T3i) in the past year or so that has a few more settings and with this forums help hopefully I can manage to put them to use.

I shoot everything that I find interesting from kids to landscapes, billboards, and motor vehicles. Every now and again I manage to take one that is not horrible (lol).

Steve

Steve thats a great silhouette shot, great colors, but you might consider removing the power line in the upper right hand corner

Sounds like exactly the kind of thing I'd like to learn about. I am assuming you mean something other than cropping.

Yep other than cropping, you are going to need some type of software like photoshop or lightroom. Your picture has great balance with the lone bench out to the left vs the tree but that power line is just a distraction.

There's so little of the line in the picture that a couple of minutes in photoshop using the spot healing or clone tool would mean not having to crop it out.

Welcome to UHH, Tea8. That photo is gorgeous! If you don't have the software or don't yet know how to remove the power line, just ask and people on UHH will jump to your aid. You checked the download box so people can download, remove the line, and repost it so you can download for your own use.

It is a very easy fix. Once you have the software to do it yourself you will be amazed how fast and easy it is to fix little details like that.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. I have LR4 and Elements 11. Do either one of these have the tools for getting rid of that?

Welcome to the forum, Hondo! Spent some years working at Foxboro Raceway before it became a parking lot. Many nice people here to help with questions, and some great photographers to learn from. Don't be shy about posting, and can't speak for LR, but yes, Elements 11 will let you get rid of wires.
