I guess I don't understand your concern, but here's a couple taken with my D7100 - 24MP. I don't detect any difference in PP 24MP from my D7100 than what I was doing previously with my 12MP Olympus E-30. The first one below is SOOC no processing, no cropping. The second has some minor processing & cropping applied. Both were shot in RAW+ Large Fine Jpeg settings.

I think it has something to do with the RAM in his computer, the larger the file size the slower it will get if you don't have enough RAM. JM2Cents. An we can't post RAW files on this site. Just take a few pictures and add them together till you get to about 24 Meg and see how it goes.

I have 6 gig of ram with 2.3 Quad core cpu. I like to try a 24mp raw file to see how my PC handles it in PP.

I have a 2.3 GHz dual core CPU with 6gb of ram and have no problems post processing raw D800 files which are upward of 50mb's.

I have a laptop with 6gb RAM, 2.4 i5 processor and it handles processing of my 24 MP D7100 files just fine. However, most of my processing is done on my desktop unit, with 3.0gz Quad Core i7, with 16GB RAM. Both computers are using Win7 Professional with both LR4 and PSE-11. Will be upgrading to LR5 and PSE-12 within the next few days on both units..

What is PP? What does post a picture have to do with camera image size. You should more about a FF camera before you purchase one.

PP is Post-Processing (i.e., Lightroom, Photoshop, Elements, Corel Paintshop, Aftershot, etc) Sorry, but D5200 is not a FF (full-frame) camera.

Dan O - up until about 3-4 months ago, I used a Mac laptop with only 4 GB of Ram because it was maxed out. I believe the CPU ran at 2.3 ghz. I processed many images that were 36 MB or larger in size and had no real problems. 😃 it also depends on how many programs you have running at the same time and if you have a dedicated graphics card and memory. I've used PC's & Macs and never had any problems always shooting in RAW full manual mode. Hope this helps. 😃 Oh, I usually PP using LR 4 & 5 and Photoshop CS5 & CS6.

Hello, if you have the horse power to PP. Then the last thought should be do I have the available drive storage or do I need to expand my primary drive and my back up drives?

It also depends on how much pp you do .If doing a lot off layers , with just 6 gig of ram you could be chugging. It don't take long to go from 24 to 150-200 megs .

I believe that after posting on this forum the files are no longer the original file size. Correct me if no so.
