I currently use a Nikon D700 as my primary and the D7000 as my back-up. I was considering trading in the D700 for a D800 until I saw the D700 was selling for more than the D800. Now I think I'll hang on to the D700 while getting the D800.

Can anyone tell me why the D700 is selling for more than the D800??

Where did you come up with that info? The D700 is discontinued and unscrupulous sellers can ask what they wish in hoping to find a sucker, but the D700 is selling under $2000 when you can find one.

People can charge anyrhing they want. the question is how many are buying at that inflated price ? The D700 is a fine camera, but it hasn't reached the collector staus yet and should not command such a rediculous price. I've seen the on rBay selling for outragous sums.

I have a D200 I will sell for only $2100!!!!!!

Does that mean anyone will pay it? I seriously doubt it. But if you REALLY want one.........

"Offering" and "selling" are two different things. There are lots of ridiculous prices on Amazon (by private sellers) and ebay, but only an idiot would pay those prices.

On eBay they sell for $1000 ~ $1500

The Nikon D700 is an excellent camera and built just like the D300. Built like a TANK! I use the D300 and would love to get a D700 if and when funds allow .............
