This is 1 of the most challenging subjects to master for me, but if I don't continue to try I will never get the hang of it.
These were shot free hand with a nikon D3100 and a Tamron 70-300mm lens , now for the kicker.
It was attached to a Sigma 2x teleconverter as I was actually there to capture the push barge traveling the river and while waiting for a clear shot these birds flew over, they were shot in manual mode.
Comments are welcome be they good or bad.

Nothing wrong with your manual settings for aperture and ISO, although your shutter speed should probably have been much higher. If you're using a teleconverter on a long lens, you're at the mercy of how fast your autofocus system reacts, and then you have to worry about motion blur. A higher shutter speed will compensate for that. Still, as you set out originally to shoot a barge, and extemporaneously switched to capturing birds in flight, you can be forgiven for not getting it exactly right the first time.

Thanks for the comments, 1 thing is with a teleconverter you lose the auto focus feature, next is finding the correct shutter speed while using the 2x teleconverter.
1 thing I did like was the multiple BIF's in the photo
Teleconverter makes the whole process more difficult in my opinion. I think these would have been much sharper if you used a faster shutter speed. manual focus with BIF is a tough assignment. With practice, you will undoubtedly start to get some really nice results.
Have to try different shutter speeds and keep it up till I find the one that gives the best results but that's part of the fun of it all.

Thank you very much.
Have one posted under unexpected suprise that you might like too.
I think the shots range from out of focus to just plain blurry. I think the lens doubler got you, but what can you do, but try, when the situation arises so fast. CC meant only for constructive purposes.

I agree that they are somewhat blurry, I was waiting on a push barge and didn't have the tripod with me for 1.
These were just spur of the moment attempts as they flew over while i was waiting and I wanted to see what results I might get using the 2x on BIF.
