To all who use the D7000 like (GPS Phil)
I have heard that the d7000 has to be ajusted for some lens to get accurate focus , is this necessary ? for all lenses or is it only lower quality Glass?

I have a D7100 which seems to behave that way with my old 24-120mm AF full frame zoom lens. At least i get better shots if i manually focus. i tried a string of tripod mounted indoor shots, forcing camera to refocus for each shot and found the focus point changing plus or minus 3 feet with the subject 20 feet away. Some were short, some long and some right on. I did not have any strings where the focus was consistantle off one direction. is this the kind of problem you are hinting at?

The D7000 simply ALLOWS you to fine tune the focus for different AF lenses. Most Nikon brand lenses won't need it, many aftermarket lenses will get sharper if properly fine tuned. Regardless its just really nice to have that capability should you find you need it.

the kit lens 18-105 nikon seems off focus a bit , but i am buying new glass , upgrade sigma 70-200 2.8 and wonder if it would apply to that lens too?

You can adjust for any lens you can put on the body. Just be sure to properly CHECK the AF function of the lens to see if it even needs tuning before you mess with it at all.

Is there an easy quick way of checking this?

Set your camera on a tripod, put the autofocus to "SPOT" and lens at widest aperture. Stretch a carpenters tape out on the floor straight out from the tripod. Aim the lens at an even foot mark or something clear like 100 inches, I usually lay a pencil on the floor next to the tape pointing at the mark I used. Autofocus directly on that spot and take a picture. I usually adjust zooms at the longest focal length as that is where they are used most often (200mm on the 70-200). Look at that picture at 200% on your computer and seed what marks on the tape are sharpest. If 98 inches is the sharpest then you are front-focusing a bit. If 103 inches is the sharpest you are back focusing, adjust as necessary and try again until that 100 is the sharpest. If 100 is already sharp the lens is fine and don't mess with it.

Stand it up. If the angle is less than 45 degrees the effect will be more pronounced.
