If you could pick one book that inspired or taught you more about photography, which book would it be? I have many books on the subject of photography and software, but none of them would make me go back into burning house to grab.

Stephen Shore's "American Surfaces"

I don't remember the name of the book, but the author/photographer was Fred Picker and the picture on the cover was either a white church or a small white frame house. The title of the book is "The Fine Print". It is on sale on ebay for about $15.00. Not my copy incidentally.

There probably is not a single book, but a combination of all.

I don't know of a single book, but I don't know of anyone who has shown the power of a photograph more than Ansel Adams. And there are many books about him, or that include him, and that feature his works, methods and theories.
The photographers eye and the photographers mind, are 2 good reads
Ansel Adams - The Negative, also the 'other' two.
