The first paragraph in the article says it all.
Good post.

Seriously?
No one got this?
What is to get? Most people I encounter are so fed up with politicians that they would prefer to ignore the subject. Why would it surprise you that something like this could occur in California, the land of fruits and nuts?
People were probably looking for Jay Leno to appear. The public is and always has been, easy to manipulate into accepting crazy concepts. Its called a propaganda machine and it works well. The key words were "Safety" and "Budget Cuts" That is probably what most people heard and tuned out the rest.

All the more reason to pay attention.
Do you think all the people in other states would not have signed the petition?
PS. Thanks Eugene. :-)

Yes, I think most people would sign and that is a shame.
The government has become the boogy man hiding under your bed and like small children the average citizen is hiding under the covers and waiting for day light. The people I speak to would rather see anything else in DC that what we have right now.

I hear what you're saying and there is probably much truth in it.
A lot of people just don't "listen." I'm thinking that these people thought they were helping the guy out by signing his petition and never actually listened at all to what he was actually saying.
That is just so very sad.
I've had people come up to me when I've been out doing errands or whatever and have asked me to sign some petition; which I've never done until I understood and agreed with what I was being asked to sign.

Don't surprise me people are not all that bright.
Need proof look at how many still support Obama.

And even there you aren't sure you are being told the truth. Recently in the St. Louis area a big drive was put on by the Mayor to gain City Control of the Police Department, which had been taken away during the Civil War to keep Missouri a Blue State because State Legislators believed there were too many sourhtern sympathizers in the City. It is a long story but the crux of the matter was the City wanted control of the Police Pension, which was half a billion dollars....Money all donated by the Officers themselves and it was self sustaining. Anyway, the City sent these Petition seeking people out statewide and the information they gave was slanted and in some cases lies....The matter was put on a statewide ballot because of the petition signatures and the City of St Louis regained control of the Police Department instead of the State doing it. The City had made attempts before, but it always failed...lies and slanted information did the trick and the City has already gone after the Fire Fighter's Pension system and I would bet you dollars to donuts that the Police Pension is next.

That is probably the case for some, but there are a multitude of other reasons/explanations for this phenomenon, none of which (imho) hold water, so to speak.

Interesting and not in the least bit surprising, understanding how politicians operate, which is generally the almighty dollar.
It appears we now need a lawyer at our side before signing a petition....then again, lawyers have their own agenda too. My oh my, this is getting deep! :-)
