I noticed that you shoot them on a gray or off white wall, this is gooderest. The only thing I might have done a little different would have been to put some light on the wall behind them. I noticed light shadows on the wall behind them. In the photos themselves it posses no problems. The problem will arise when you go remove that back ground and place them in a different background should you be so inclined. It's a minor thing I know.

Thanks for the nice words.........!
I feel so encouraged!
@bill, thanks 4d suggeations. I observed the umbrella I used as fill/back light gave some shadows too. I think it was due to the positioning. I'll post a picture which shows it now. And how do you think I can avoid it? Thanks again.

I think to avoid it, you can simple move the subjects father away from the wall allowing the back lighting to fill it a little more. It's not a major problem with the gray wall. Just might speed up your PP if you can make it more consistent.

You should feel encouraged, these are very good photos.

Your early attempts look very promising. I really like the pose with your lighting setup for the top picture. Your last picture with the young lady wearing a scarf and knit jacket is phenominal.
I also like that the subject is just making a gentle smile - very classy to say the least. This makes the viewer wonder a little more on just what she is thinking about. It is always good to add a little mystery to your shots.

Continue experimenting with various combinations of your lighting setup for your own learning experience. You are on your way.

Here is a quick redue, using your last post. Ths shadow of the umbrella did complicate it some. Please don't think that I am trying to belittle your work, it is fantastic.

You might want to look at some of this memebers photos also.

There is a free program called GIMP. Unless you have Photoshop, it will allow you to do the same thing, that is why we like to use a neutral back ground. So you can cut out the unwanted back ground then put in the new.
