Red-tail ( Hawk that is... ) at 12:00

This Red-tailed Hawk came right over the top putting what little sun there was between me and itself.

I would say that I made a "snap shot" to get the picture and was lucky enough to get an x-ray effect of it's wings and feathers.

Hawks can just appear out of nowhere - over tops of trees etc. Good reactions to get the bird in the lens, pan, and get a nice shot.

Tom, you did good, here. It pays to be ready. By the way, Red-tails molt wing and body feathers in the spring, lay off during breeding season then start again in the fall with more body and tail feathers. So this hawk is typical for this time of the year.

That's just the way it happened SP, the person I was talking to on the trail spotted it coming from behind me!

Thanks birdpix, I have learned more about nature in the last two years since I retired than in all the 100 years that I was working everyday!
