Mac or PC
I am a PC user. I am looking to buy a new computer. My computer is now and will be used mostly for my Photography. What do other Photographers use? Does it really matter. Photo shop is the same on both. Please help me make my descision.

See the 1.5 hr announcement of the new Macs that was made today by Apple. That was an event worth watching. See it and then decide. Look for Apple Event, October, must be on the Internet in many places, including CNN who ran the event live. I am about to buy another Mac just for photography/editing!
I am a former PC user, had several and all were problematic because of Windows. Got fed up with all the freezes and many other issues.
Been a MAC user for two years and will never go back to a PC. It is so free of the problems afflicting PC's that it is a joy to use my MAC. I do anything I want on the MAC and you probably know now what I recommend.

BTW, I have been a MAc user since 1995. I worked as a senior quality engineer for a computer manufacturer then, (yes, the IBM type but the big tanks used by companies). And I have never looked back. It has been a smooth riding ever since.
For video editing it may possibly make a difference in some situations, but for still images, not really. There are many more important factors than choice of operating system.

YES it matters! Geez... Get a Mac. Most photographers (at least the good ones) use a Mac... no wait... a PC. Actually, I think a Mac... except for those who use a PC. And make sure you get a retnia display and never print your work. Just admire it on your beautiful display. :-)
I have always had a PC but a couple of years ago when my last PC became cranky like all of the previous ones did I got an iMac. All I use it for is photography and I love it- my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I'll never own another PC. ;)

Using Windows 7 and never had a problem...ditto for earlier versions. The only one I didn't like was 98...
I have an IPS monitor for my photography...surely what you view your pics on is more important then the operating system?
What do you think makes a Mac better for photography editing, etc., no one has actually said...?
If only I could blame the operating system for all my lousy photos!
Unfortunately in my line of work I use quite a few programs requiring a PC (as of now...most are finally working on the software I use running on Mac platform), I have every intention to purchase a 27" IMac this year with windows 8 and Parallels, (just not use the Mac partition for internet usage and then there is also Boot Camp for Mac...still doing my research regarding upgrades before I decide. But the IMAC is a for sure thing regardless. I too am tired of all the BS of a PC
Actually, if you can't decide buy a Mac. Then you can run both Windows and OS 10 ! I think the retina display from Mac makes a huge difference ! I've run Mac for more than 25 years and now have an iMac 27 with 32 mb RAM and it kills it running CS6 and Aperture. Aperture is easy to use as well. Also have a MacBook Pro that I carry with me and use both there as well. Just started to use an iPad with a PS ap and several other photo aps. Works amazingly well especially with the photos it takes! Easy choice Mac!!!
Your decision is easy. PC's users (at least the smart ones) are refusing to install and use the Windows most updated operating system. By comparison, have you EVER heard anyone say the Mac operating system is full of buggy software? There is NO comparison.
Macs are designed for artists and photographers. I had PC`s and got tired of the freezes and viruses even with so called protection . I will never go back to using PC`s again . I bought my Mac Pro in 2006 and never any problems with anything. Usually you get what you pay for .
I switched to a mac earlier this year.
Still have a pc for the internet, games, etc but do my photo work on the mac. There was a bit of a learning curve but i really enjoy using it as this time.
I have the i27 and the monitor is huge. THey look large in the show room, but put them on a desk in your room and it is amazing large. In fact i have stopped using two monitors at the same time (as i do with a PC)
Am happy I made the switch.

One good thing about the 27" monitor: swinging your head from side to side to see the entire screen prevents you from getting a stiff neck, something that can happen with those tiny 21" monitors. :D
