.... in Norway ... there is a shortage of butter, driving the cost up to $500 a pound. Here in America it's usually $2.50 - $6.00 a pound, depending on the brand.

If that ever happens to Kentucky bourbon, I mean the good stuff, like Maker's Mark, I will absolutely totally and completely revolt against society and to the Jimmy Jones.

That is one of troubles with having and trying to maintain such impossible to meet standards - the day is sure to come where you are destined to find yourself on a precipice eying the jagged rocks below.

Back to the price of butter in Norway .... a few more questions.

If butter is $500 a pound, I wonder how much a gallon of milk costs?

Has the value of their dairy cows gone up? How about the price of a bale of hay?

If it all gets too bad, and they start drinking more heavily to drown their sorrows ... will there be a shortage of whiskey, driving its price up?

I'm going to invest heavily in a Norway whiskey company. Thanks for the tip.

I checked this out online and evidently the Norwegians are into some kind of "Dr. Atkins"-type diet and are eating the stuff like crazy. Also, there are TONS of it being shipped in from other countries trying to take advantage of the high price. They will be up to their....uhhh....eyeballs in butter within a week.

Besides, this article was from SOUTH AFRICA, for ****'s sake! Maybe they were pricing it in Zimbabwe dollars. :P :P :P

If you like MM, you should try Woodford Reserve! Really good stuff :D

Maybe we should export some of the creamy stuff to the poor folks in Norway. I mean, really, what good is popcorn without butter?!

It seems that Norway has very stringent anti-import tariffs in place for many products, to "protect" local farms. When in-country production falls, prices rise and people have no other choice. A very strong 'Buy Norwegian" sentiment there. Couple poor weather with different eating habits, and there ya go.

uffda!! When I was teaching my kids asked me what it meant. Since I live in deep South Texas no one had every heard it. They were mostly Hispanic about 99 percent. I told them that uffda was when you dropped your gum in the chicken coup and didn't find it till the third try. All my third graders got disgusting looks on their faces and then started to laugh
