Problem with SanDisk 64Gb SD Card

While I was in England this summer I bought a 64Gb SanDisk Ultra SD card. I used it while I was on my trip and everything seemed to be going great. When I got home, however, nothing went right. I had the images--I could see them on my camera--but I couldn't get them to download to my computer. I've tried everything (formatting, erasing, praying), but nothing has worked. It's not the end of the world, but I have this SD card that stores images fine but won't let go of them.

Before you ask, I'm shooting RAW files with a Nikon D800E.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Real stupid question.
Is the write protect switch on?

Yup, for different reasons...

Solution to your problem:
Pull out your USB 3 cable, connect it to your computer, turn the camera on and...

You have a new drive to copy/move from.

If does not want to move stuff, at least it will copy then you can reformat from the camera menus.

The 5D mk3 has 2 card slots, I assume you used 2 cards and set one as backup

You who like to correct folks... The OP is using a Nikon D800e, not a Canon and yes the D800e has two different format slots.

"You SERIOUSLY tried FORMATTING the card, why!!!!!"
"Learn one important lesson"
Neither statements are needed, this is an unjustified implied criticism of a user (stupidity and inability to learn from a bad experience unless you tell him to).

And you wonder why folks do not like you?

You likely (I hope) did not mean it this way but this is the way it comes across.

Just answer the question with a solution not with your point of view on other folks actions or statements (like traveler90712's about the write protect tab - Do notice the start of it: "STUPID QUESTION" ).

This post is off topic.

It is meant for JR1 and constructive so that he sees and understands how other folks read and interpret his posts.

Hey, JR, it's asinine responses like that that frustrate me about UHH. Yes, I "seriously" tried to format the card. I had all my images on another disk anyways--a D800 takes two cards--and by then my focus was on the card, not the images. I don't understand the mentality of a person who immediately bypasses the problem and searches instead for a weakness in the approach of the person who's reporting the problem. Do everyone a favor: either give thought to the problem, assuming the reporter knows what he's doing, or keep your cheap shots and exclamation marks to yourself.

Good suggestion. Thank you. Since my focus has been on just getting the card to work the way it's supposed to, the consideration of alternatives has taken a back seat. I kept thinking, "If I can get it to download once, it'll be okay." I know, I know: there's one born every minute.

There is no such thing as "a stupid question" especially when you can learn something from it. In one of the posts, by JR1, you will see where it is pointed out that the write protect would prevent photos from being taken but not effect downloading.

Here we go again! Fight nice children!

If I might make a suggestion, if you do not like the response just ignore it. I know it is hard at times, trust me, but it can be done.

Now if I could only take my own advice.............

JR1,

I do agree with this. The largest, and most commonly used card by me, is a 16 gig card. I own four of them along with two 8 gig cards.

My one exception is a SanDisk 64GB Class 10, Ultra SDXC card, but I also own a 16 gig card for that camera also. The reason is because the day I bought it the store didn't have any other size card.
