Night Shot in Morro Bay,California
Ok, I took this shot at full moon at 5am the other day,, on a tripod, with my Canon 7D, with Canon lens, 70mm-200 f2.8. .. Settings :ISO 400, f4.5 70mm ,using aperture as my setting, using the light of the moon,, I like this photo,, but it was all hit a and miss during my shoot,, I need suggestions on shooting in the dark, just not to sure what I'm doing,, also since I work in an aquarium, I have to admit, I'm also not doing well with my photography in low light,, so help me someone out there,, when there is light, I'm great,, but when it's low light, I sort of suck,,

I'm wondering if you do any Post Processing with your photos. I you don't mind, I'll post this on with just some minor adjustment.
This was done in LR5
Hi, please post it,, I did do a touch of photoshop, with this photo just a bit of saturation and brighten it up a bit,, I'll look forward to see what you do with it,, thanks, Sandy
I'm also currious as to what effect you were looking for in this photo. You said it's a picture of the moon.

He said it was shot using the light of the moon.

You really don't think I read that. That still doesn't answer my question, was she try to lite that big rock in center or was she trying to get a better shot of the moon, or perhaps she was trying to silhouette the rock and have the harbor show up better. Perhaps you can tell me.
Well to answer your question,, i was using the moon for my light source, and wanted more of the rock,, but I wanted the outcome to look like a photo taken in the night with a moon shining on my subject,, that you would know by looking at my photo,, it was moonlight,, does that answer your question,,And I like your touch up,, so thank you,, Sandy
Sandy, you mentioned Photo Shop, I don't know how much you use it but if this helps you out when making adjustments, You can select the moon or and area around it. Then you can invert your selection in "Select". From that point on any changes you make such as brightness, color or what ever will not effect the moon or anything inside the circle so say. This way you you will not over brighten moon an it will allow you more control over the areas you wish to adjust
There will be others coming on board to help you with your settings I'm sure. Good Luck and keep on clicking.
Thank you Bill,, I appreciate your suggestions and will practice more ,,, want to conquer this low light problem I have, especially in the aquarium I work at,, as not only is it low light, but my subjects like to move around a lot, plus shooting thru a window,, but off the subject,, next full moon, shall go out and try shooting some more,, thanks,, Sandy
Well Just so you know as you already do, you have chosen an almost impossible subject matter. Low light and moving. I real nightmare to a photographer. As I mentioned by tomorrow you will enough to help you out hopefully.
Thanks,, enjoy your evening, my hubby says there is football on soon!!
Here is my touch up . I used PC Elements 11. I adjusted the light levels by selecting different parts of the photo separately .. then ran a high pass filter at 2.5 setting with vivid light selected to sharpen it some . then I did a slight Hue adjustment . Hope you like it .

It's hard to comment on a image, and even worse with the one you have taken, because the light for exposure at nigh time or early morning in this case is so variable. You have left out one very important parameter, the shutter speed the camera set.
As the moon is on the side furthest from your camera I wouldn't expect the rock face to be lit up by the moon light so I think your image looks ok to me on my monitor. I think Bills image is to light and it's like a sunset, the rock is to light and the sky.
Dave.
Hi Pharo,, I do like it,, thanks,, looks better,, Sandy
