Has anyone upgraded to Corel Paintshop X6 from X5?

Corel currently has the x6 upgrade for 59.99. Has anyone tried it and is it worth the $$$? Every year they come out with an upgrade and the last few years have been mediocre.
I have win7x64 on a i7core machine and now they finally have a 64 bit version. Any insight would be appreciated.

When I was using PSP , I always got the ultimate . Here is a web site with a video you can watch about the new PSP Ultimate 6 to compare to what you have with PSP 5 . Hope this helps some

I upgraded and it has a lot of new features, however I still use CS6, Lightroom 5 so I don't dabble much in CP X6.

Interesting - usually I have gotten a notice to upgrade - haven't received one for 6 yet....
I've been upgrading every year since Jasz published it.

Curious - How does Paintshop stack up against Photoshop 6 or Elements ?? Im a Lightroom user but now looking for something more for the creative side.

Corel Paintshop X6 has many of the features that CS6 has for photographers and is on par with Elements with more leaning to Lightroom 5. I haven't found out how to add all the third party products like Tiffany or Perfect Studio in to it, but that is minor.

I upgraded just to get the 64 bit version. It does respond quicker so I'm happy with that. I compared the the versions on their site and most of the new features weren't ones that I would use, but I'm still in the process of trying these.

Nikon_DonB,

I have been using PSP since JASC published version 4, but since Corel gobbled it up at version 11 I have stopped the yearly upgrade. This year is no exception, I have not seen enough improvements, or additions to justify the time and effort to make the newest version work as well as my current version X-4.

For those of us who have been using PSP over several years, and have downloaded editing plugins, paid, or free; many of those plugins will not work on a 64 bit platform. They were built for the 32 bit platform.

Just upgraded from x2 to x6 and love it! One minor glitch - in x2, the Learning Center palette could be docked to the left and I can't dock it to the left in x6. I got the x6 Ultimate and it installs both 32 and 64 bit versions - useful because some plugins won't load successfully in both versions. It accepts all PS plugins. There are a few new wrinkles to learn but it works beautifully. I started years ago with PS and went to PSPx2 about 6 years ago or whenever it first came out. I find PSPx2 and x6 more user-friendly at a much lower cost. I tried PSE and didn't like it either - much prefer the Corel program. The x6 version(s) have some new tools and capabilities and I'm still exploring them. My primary field is live performance pix of blues/jazz musicians/bands for CD covers, press packs and publicity pix.

With the purchase of X6 you get the 32 bit version as well but it runs slower than the 64bit version.

I installed the upgrade which installed both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions at the same time. The 64 bit version is a little faster but it wouldn't recognize my scanner so I do need both versions. I agree that the Corel annual upgrades are mostly incremental improvements but I have bought them year after year because I want whatever edge I can get and the $60 or so is small potatoes when I think of my total investment in photography. In any case, I believe they offer a fully functional trial so you can judge for yourself. I apologize for not being able to discuss more specifics.
