A while back I did a test of light weight (cheap) photo stands.

Here is an update.

You do NOT have to spend a fortune on studio lighting.

I do have a pair of Metz 45 CL-4 digital kits, not cheap, but on a regular basis I use these below.

An often miss guided idea is that unless you have Canon for Canon, Nikon for Nikon flash you can not use anything else.

Well the Stand on the left has a Metz (Canon) flash and the one on the right a Sunpak (do not underestimate the make, been around for 30 years and more), Nikon gun, both set to manual, triggered with the ever reliable Ishoots.

Yes and bought from China

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/iShoot-Studio-Radio-Wireless-Flash-Trigger-for-Strobe-Light-3-5-6-35mm-Sync-Jack-/180780664036?pt=UK_Photography_Slaves_Trigger_Systems&hash=item2a175e04e4#ht_6456wt_1161

Oh I always use Stofens for extra diffusion, Stofens not ebay specials

You can have a proper flash outfit for the cost of two CHEAP manual guns £50, two stands £30 and triggers £30 = £110

Though the guns here are £200

I agree...those are the ones I have (same ones, different brand) and I love them.

They are light and if I DO break one...I'm only out 10.00 and not 100.00.

I've had mine about 2 years and they are still going strong.

If you ever have trouble with your flash and camera, where do you go for help? There is always a reason why a particular brand is cheaper.

Snobbery plays a large part in choice, such as the "I only use Canon or Nikon" people.

Rubbish.

Take into account and other users reviews.

If these were crap I would have said so.

Look at the price, they are riveted joints, if a rivet were to go a small bolt and locknut and they are fine.

30 years ago people in the US and UK stated "I would never buy cheap Japanese rubbish..................

So, according to your point of view, don't buy YONGNUO flash, Ishoot triggers etc. Duh
