I was at a craft fair today and a gentleman had pictures for sale. I asked what editing program he used, of course I did not write it down but I think it was something like Life Line? He said it was simple to use and as good and less expensive than Photoshop. I know Photoshop 7 will not load on my Windows 8 computer. Any ideas on this program?
Thanks,
Have a good weekend.

Lightroom is a fine program but it can be a headache to learn fully!

Buy the Scott Kelby Book on Lightroom 5 to know how to set it up and use it properly, IMHO.

Photoshop 7 will load if you go into make compatible
You can (A) do this for the install and then (B) for the program, chose XP
It will work? Wow that would be great, I just hesitate to try it as the disc is so old now. Is is possible for you to clarify a little more if you have time the installation process. On Windows 8 I fear I would never find it again!
Thank you so much.

I use Photoshop elements, very reasonably priced, mine was under $100 a few yrs ago. It does amazing things and is not difficult to learm
Look at Zoner Photo Studio 16. ZPS is the like the best of LR and PS in one program for $80. Free 30 day trial.

Raw Therapee - It's a free open source program with some pretty good photo enhancing tools. As the name implies it will handle RAW files. It will also work on Jpeg and it does tonemapping if you want to give your photo a HDR look. It also does curves, sharpening, and noise reduction among other things.
Worth a look considering it's free.
http://rawtherapee.com/blog/featuresAnother free program is PhotoScape. It has several photo manipulation tools for creative affects. I know someone who creates some really nice HDR photos and often uses this program as part of his workflow despite having Photoshop, Photomatix and others.
http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.phpIf you want to pay then download the public beta of Perfect Photo Suite 8 and give it a try for free. Does layers, has a pretty good and easy to use masking tool, and version 8 has added an "eraser" tool that works similar to Photoshops Content Aware Fill Tools and in my opinion does a better job, at least the couple of times I've tried it. Beyond that it has a portrait enhancement feature, lots of presets for different looks, B&W conversion, and resizing. The beta only has a few presets but I have version 7 which has hundreds. You can download a trial version of PPS7 to see all the presets included.
