I recently upgraded and switched from Nikon to Canon. I would like to sell my used equipment and would like to ask a fair price. Can anyone give me an estimate of what price range I should ask for as a set or individually?

Thank you to anyone that can be of help.

1- Nikon bag (originally $90)
1- Nikon battery charger
Nikon kit lenses
1- 18-55mm AF-S 1:3.5-5.6 with hood
1- 55-200mm AF-S 1:4-5.6 with hood
2 Sunpak 52mm UV Filter on both lenses
1 Sunpak 52mm Circular Polarizer
1- Nikon F 55mm Macro lens 1:3.5(I bought used for $100)
1- Nikon SB-10 Speedlight with cord (bought used)

If you take a look on ebay, you will see how much people are actually paying for these items. The value is what someone is willing to pay on a given day.

Wish you hadn't used the word "upgraded" ! lol

Whenever I see something for sale on Craiglist that I like, I check the online store's pricing on the item to get a fix on what the "value range" is.

If you want a quick sale you list your items below market value, if you are Hard nosed about it you stand your ground and maybe sell a few things eventually.

Thank you for responding. I did look on ebay first, but it's such a large gambit of pricing. I'd like to set a price and ask for it. I just want to be fair. It's hardly used and in great shape so I don't want to just give it away, but I don't want to set the price too high so it won't sell.

lol I just meant that I went from my personal starter camera to a more bells and whistles camera. For me it's an upgrade. Model types don't matter to me. I like anyone that makes a good camera.

Thank you. I think I will look at the items new and go from there.

That's always the problem. :D

might consider checking with keh , adorama etc see what they are selling for

KEH selling D3000 for 200 bucks 100 for the 18-55 and 100 for the 55-200, more or less.

Entry level gear simply does not command high dollars

for all you might get out of it I would simply keep it for a back up rig

On eBay, you can check completed auctions and you will be shown the prices that people have paid for the item recently. That should give you an idea of the current price range. You can expect that, if the equipment is in reasonable shape, you should be able to get something within that range.

There are a number of strategies for selling. You may have one you prefer. I personally start with a high price and state that the price indicates the least I am willing to sell for. That prevents the item possibly selling at a ridiculously low price. If I have set the price fairly, I get at least the minimum I am willing to sell for, and often more toward the mid to high end of the market range. I also don't use reserves as I despise them. This has been successful for me.

Thank you everyone. I won't be keeping the stuff as a back up as my husband has 3 cameras in the event I need a back up. I guess I'll spend some time researching going prices before I decide how to sell it.

I you choose to check eBay prices, don't look at the open auctions as they don't accurately reflect the actual sold prices. Instead, describe the item you want prices for in the search bar, click on"Advanced", and in the page that opens scroll down and click the box that says "completed listings". This will give you prices for items which actually sold, not what someone is hoping to get for the item.

To find out what an item is worth is based on what people are willing to pay for it . Check out E-Bay , Craigs list and the like . You can also put a price on any item and post here and someone will make an offer .

Go to KEH.com, click on "Sell Your Equipment" and fill out the form for requesting a quote. That will give you a starting point.

And when you get over the shock you may want to set your price somewhere between the buy price and sell price or you can sell directly to them..

Usually you can get more selling to a private individual if you are willing to take the risk and endure the hassle. Good luck.
